Alice Fredenham My Funny Valentine Whatever Happened to Her

BRITAIN'S Got Talent favourite Alice Fredenham says she would have quit singing if the judges had snubbed her.

Alice, who was booted off The Voice months before her BGT audition, says she cried for days after the coaches on the rival BBC1 show failed to turn their chairs and dubbed her a "restaurant jazz singer".

And she said a second rejection on BGT would have broken her confidence completely.

Speaking before tonight's semi-final, she told TV Biz: "Britain's Got Talent felt like my last chance to be a success. After I was turned down on The Voice I hit a real low point.

"I was heartbroken and I spent days in bed crying — it was almost like a break-up. You just feel really rejected and like you aren't good enough.

"I definitely wallowed for a bit, then I got a call from Britain's Got Talent and my boyfriend Joe Lenzie convinced me to give it a try.

"I like to think that if I hadn't got through I'd have picked myself up and continued singing, but I considered quitting for good.

"I thought that if I wasn't good enough for either show I might as well give up. But nothing is as big as this. Britain's Got Talent felt like my last chance of making it big — otherwise I would have gone down the route of weddings and corporate events.

"I haven't had any professional training, so it would have been a completely different level."

On Sunday, viewers saw Alice — who impressed the judges at her first audition with a rendition of My Funny Valentine — sail into the show's live semi-finals.

The beauty therapist wept as Simon Cowell told her that she, builder Robbie Kennedy and impressionist Francine Lewis were the three easiest yeses of the contest.

Alice made a bid to make it through to the grand final and scoop the £250,000 prize.

Alice said: "I still can't believe this is happening.

"I was one of the last contestants to hear that I was through and it was a big shock.

"As more and more people came out of that room saying they had made it, I became more and more convinced that I hadn't.

9

"That's why I was crying when Simon was talking to us.

"Then to hear him say I had made it through to the live shows was amazing.

"Simon took me to one side afterwards and told me he thought I was really special, which was lovely to hear — especially from him."

She added: "I can't wait for the semi-final show, although obviously I will be scared out of my mind. There will definitely be a lot of nerves.

"But I am looking forward to it. My family are coming to watch and it'll be the first time they have ever seen me perform for an audience.

9

"I'm almost more nervous about what they think than all of the people watching at home.

"My boyfriend is coming too — he is very proud.

9

"He has joked though that he might give it a miss, because if he cries when I sing it won't do his street cred any favours at all."

Jack cracks U.S.

BGT comedian Jack Carroll has already cracked the US – he played a packed gig in a comedy club in Hollywood last week.

The hilarious teen – who has cerebal palsy – was invited out to LA for YouTube's Big Live Comedy Show in Los Angeles last Sunday.

And after the big event he went to an open mic night at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.

His Monday night act went down a treat, even if the locals struggled at times with his strong Yorkshire accent.

Jack said: "I think they liked me, but because I'm from Halifax, they might not have understood a word I said. Londoners struggle to understand me, let alone Americans."

Jack brought the house down with his first BGT audition and sailed into the semi-finals. He will take to the stage again tonight and no one is safe from his sharp-tongued gags, even show creator Simon Cowell.

He said: "I have got a load more material but I don't even really want to give a hint about what it is. All I will say is Simon is going to be involved in one of my jokes.

"The producers have pretty much left me to it and given me complete artistic control of my act, so I can say what I want."
